Rametha at Sinhagad

Gnidia glauca or the Fish Poison bush. Known as Rametha in Marathi. This bush is found in the Sahyadri region and can be seen on most forts around. November onwards these bushes bear bunches of beautiful buttery yellow flowers.

Trek - Mahimandangad

A small fort on the top of a hill, it is accessed from the small mountain village of Sindi, near Khed on the route from to Konkan.
The best part of this trek is experiencing a stay at Sindi. On the edge of Koyna forest, it consists of barely four or five houses with the typical thatched roof and shady courtyard. The only sound one can hear at night is the steady calling of the nightjars. Morning brings a cold mist and the orchestra of birdcalls. As the day moves on, the sun raises a shimmering haze off the red soil typically found in this region. The fresh unpolluted air and the silence bring its own rewards.

Mountains, mist and magic

If you really want to enjoy the beauty of the Sahyadris, monsoon is the right season to do so. For this is when these mountains are at their best - resembling a full blooded woman in her prime; flaunting a verdant, velvet shawl, sparkling with clear streams and cascades, bejeweled with wildflowers, drawing a veil of mist that only serves to heighten the excitement and curiosity of what lies beyond..
