Common coot breeding - Bhigwan in October

The common coot inhabits the freshwater wetlands around Pune in great numbers. This bird is known as ‘warkari’ in Marathi due to the white patch on forehead which resembles the religious daub or ‘tila’ applied on the foreheads of this community. The little babies following the adult were a delight to watch.
